Dear Cousin... the LOUISE ALBINE Le Roy is the aunt of my grandmother! god know what she got up to but she was ostracized by Henri and does not appear on death notices until after his death! All my papers are being bundled up as i am planing to move back to belgium in a few months and to give all those papers to my grandson hanno who is interested!!! i went through 'googles' and found you to my utter surprise. The Leroy had married a miss Marousé, her father had been the financial adviser for the Lower Countries to Joseph II of Austria... so there!!! how can we be short of cash with such an ancestor ? I have a painted portrait of him... tell me about yourself. i am 81 and have one daughter, 4 grandsons, and now 2 great-grandsons and one little great-grand daughter... best wishes . claire

there is so much about Henri Leroy !!! your ancestor Albine was my grandmother aunt and left for US and was at the time cross out of the family fold by Henri...I know that Brady came to Belgium, where i was born, to visit my grand-mother before WW1...i have somewhere a photo! he was worried about snakes and checked the bed he was sleeping in, which really impressed my mother who was a youngster at the time. Henri has a street name after him in soignies... I am the descendent of the debacker family, my great-grand-mother having marries a de backer from holland. All had many children , with my grand-mother having had only 3 one of which was killed in WW1. both her daughters have families and i am the 3rd child of the younger one. my brother died in a slave labourer camp in germany as he had been arrested for harbouring a US airman. I have lived in UK for the last 52 years, but my grandson and his wife and child are in Brussels! DO get in touch!!! i shall do my best to fill in info... however i have difficulties sending copies as i am not that well au fait and my PC is a Mac!
12-30-2005dear brady. i have just written a letter to you with the 'faire-part'
i.e. obituary of Henri and his wife. i shall post it tomorrow so you
should get it in about a week's time. meanwhile i shall try to sort
things out...we really are both too excited about this so , like you
say i shall proceed slowly, starting with great-grandmother
Lydie.helene married to de backer:
there was an eldest daughter Delphine born 1835?who did not marry. she
was the purser at the school where the Bronteys were and lived until
1928. my grandmother Lydie born 1855 died 1940, had two brothers, one
adhémar who married late and had a daughter who married a chinese who
had been sent by the empress to learn about the belgian railway system
, another of her brother was andré and he ran away to USA with a
married woman and they both had 4 children. his children mostly girls
were in an orphanage did not marry but the son did and had a son
having married a first cousin ...god it is complicated!
My grandmother married Theodore Tasnier both born in 1855 he died in
1938, and they had 3 children: My aunt Lydie born 1882 who had 2
children Lydie born 1922 and André born 1924-2005 , my uncle Louis who
was born 1885 and died 1914 had a son- André born 1912 but died in 1918
from the spanish flu and my mother born 1887 died 1951 married
eleuthere thiryn born 1885-died 1969 . they had 3 children, my sister
andrée born 1912 died 1976, my brother louis born 1918 died 1945 and
myself claire born 1924. i have a daughter alexandra born 1951 this is
as far as i go today!!! Lydie Helene Leontine was my great-grand
mother , YES, and i am not sure i know the names and dates of her
children...but i can find out!!!
i wonder where Albine met brady. i had always assumed she had gone to
USA on her own then found Brady! there were so many 'black sheep' in
the family- there always are in bourgeois circles!!!
Hanno my grandson speaks only english! he tries with french... his wife
is the linguist there. i speak french as it is my mother tongue and so
does alex!
have a pleasant New Year and we shall visit Henri's house in 2006 and
damn the bishop!!! best wishes...think 6 hours ago we did not know the
other existed! claire

Dear Brady . Well 3 letters in one day!!! See nr. 2: Lydie helene
leontine leroy was my grand-mother's mother. her brother ( the
grandmother's), who was also lydie, was andré and he left his wife and
4 children to go to USA with a woman who had also left her 4 children
... quite a family.. our! you MUST visit soignies where it all
started... well up to a point...as before that, one of the french
royalty had marries a ' de Condé' and one of their daughters married
Marousé's father. I have a cousin in belgium who knows more! I live in
Lancashire, but my daughter lives in the south of england. I must go to
the shops as i am short of food!!! life is so tedious... send me a set
of questions and i shall do my best! By the way, the family house,
henri's , can be visited... it is not the one in the picture..that is
on the bourdeaux side, but it now belongs to the priest and is quite
something to see. ...so long, à bientôt, claire

Was contacted via email this morning from Mr. Patrick Brison. He has located a website on the family of Dr. LEROY's mother's side-The Pieman Family. A great website with a lot of wonderful family information.
